Direct to Phone

For direct to phone method, there are a few requirements.

The Dialogic HMP telephony drivers require that the network interface on the DuVoice server that registers to the phone system is the same network interface that also send the SIP Notify to the phones/gateways for turning the MWI on/off.

If using an on premise PBX, the telephony network the DuVoice server is connected to will require direct access to the PBX.

If using a hosted PBX solution, the telephony network the DuVoice server is connected to will require internet access in order to access the PBX.

The telephony network the DuVoice server is connected to will require network access to the phones/gateways to send SIP Notify packets to update MWI on/off.

Below are several solutions for enabling direct-to-phone MWI via SIP NOTIFY.

  • The solutions are ordered from the most recommended approach to the least preferred approach, based on overall deployment simplicity and long-term maintainability.
  • The first option represents the most streamlined implementation, requiring minimal customization and the least operational overhead.
    • Each subsequent option introduces additional complexity and configuration requirements.
  • The primary challenges associated with the less preferred methods relate to IP addressing considerations and the need for manual phone configuration, both of which can increase deployment time and ongoing support requirements.
